Our Favourite Things to Do Nearby

Hirst’s Farm Shop & Cafe

We love going to Hirst’s Farm Shop for breakfast or brunch! The farm shop and café is amazing with beautiful gardens. The cows across the farm yard welcome a friendly face to say hello. In the spring (lambing season) you can visit all the baby lambs!

Planet Spice Indian Restaurant

Planet Spice Indian Restaurant has to be the best Indian restaurant we’ve ever eaten at. These guys are super friendly and they restaurant is immaculate. They also do take away.

Walking on the Beach

Taking a walk down the beach is our absolute fav thing to do. With or without Ted the cocker spaniel it is time well spent. In the summer we’re barefoot with an ice cream and as soon as the nights draw in we’re wrapped up warm down there ‘dusting off the cobwebs’. Taking a brisk walk down the beach in the winter is the cure for all ailments we hear! So many visitors mention how well they sleep when they are here which they say is down to the comfy beds but really we know it’s the sea air.

Visiting the Seals

Visiting the Seals is also a firm favourite but you can’t get too close as they can abandon their cubs if you do. They are all along the beaches here but gather mostly at Horsey gap and Winterton. You can take chartered boat trips out to see them on Scroby Sands.

Scratby Bakery

Walk to Scratby Bakery down the road for a fresh currant bun, carrot cake, loaf of bread or something else equally as tasty. We get a takeaway cup of tea and wander on to the beach come rain or shine.

Caister Castle Car Collection

Probably the largest and certainly the best privately owned motor collection open to the public in the UK

Our Favourite Things to Do Further Afield

Kings Arms, Fleggburgh

Visiting the Kings Arms in Fleggburgh for their amazing menu, all from local produce of course.

Norwich ‘The Cathedral City’

Visit Norwich ‘The Cathedral City’ for its awe-inspiring culture and beautiful sites. From paddle boarding down the Wensum, visiting the pubs on the way, right through to a shop-till-you-drop spree there is something for everyone. The drive up will take you about 40 mins but it’s well worth the day out.

BeWilderWood

Taking the little ones to BeWilderWood is such an amazing day. It’s best described as a tree house theme park through the trees with lots of interesting stories and things to do. You could certainly spend a whole day here with the little ones right up to the big ones (our 10 year old loves it still).

Thrigby Wildlife Park

Thrigby Wildlife Park is like a big zoo in a little zoo’s body. You get really up close and personal to the animals and its never too busy as its tucked away in the heart of the Norfolk countryside.

Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth has been a resort since 1760 and a gateway for the Norfolk Broads to the North Sea. If you’re looking for something fun to do no matter what you’re into there will be something here for you. There’s a market, theme park, amusement arcades, museums, cafes and restaurants galore, Sea Life Centre, sports complex, swimming pool, crazy golf, cinema, theatre and the list could go on.
